When our client Judy from Ann Arbor walked into her first indoor cycling class in February, “I was so scared and nervous. Being overweight my entire life, I am very self conscious. The idea of exercising with a group of people really was daunting!” But because she already knew Christina, Judy came to her first class.
Today she says she's thrilled that she did. “I went home after that first ride more exhausted than I think I have ever been, but before I had left I purchased a Ryde card because I knew this was going to be the place that could help me put some fitness in my life,” she remembered. And what a Ryde it's been!
Judy started out taking RydeOn! indoor cycling classes twice a week --- now she's shooting for four classes every week. She tells us that her favorite classes are theme-based, “...whether it be hills, roller coasters, Miami, or endurance. [Themed classes] give me a focus for that hour – but no matter whether or not there is a theme, I am always challenged.”
At RydeOn! we always stress that each person's Ryde is their own, whether they are “just” aiming to get in better shape or they're an athlete training for their next race. This is a philosophy that Judy really takes to heart. “One of my favorite things about RydeOn! is that I can sit on a bike next to someone training for a triathlon and we both are getting a great workout for ourselves!,” she said.
While Judy uses our new app to schedule her appointments and cites the RydeOn! blog and our Facebook community as being very helpful in her health and fitness journey, she also said that, “[f]rom the beginning, every instructor has been fantastic! I appreciate all of the encouragement they give at each class. They are all so motivating and they challenge me to push myself more than I would on my own.”
Judy said that she sings the praises of RydeOn! to everyone she knows – and she always tells people that, “[t]he environment is so welcoming … [RydeOn! classes are] the best thing I've ever done for myself. There is no judgment only help and acceptance from instructors and riders alike. Everyone is great!
