On the article City Ballot Final: Law vs. Marl for Mayor, No Race for council

ReplyOh, by the way, you have two great choices for mayor. One is a Canadian Socialist who abandoned his city council position, left the city, but now wants to be the Mayor. The other is a tax and spend liberal, who arguably has more friends in government than in the real world. He wants to use Saline as his launching pad into becoming a carrier politician. All of these people are just Statist that view all us hard working citizens as tax cows on their tax farm. They will get the gold mine and we are about to get the shaft!

ReplyIf Saline voters can't see a problem with the former finance director now in a position on city council to raise property taxes to cover the deficits that where created under his control, they have been poorly informed. This is clearly a case of the foxes guarding the hen house. Wake up citizens of Saline, you are about to get swindled with a smile!

ReplyThis country was not formed to be a "Nanny State". Too many individuals have died to preserve our liberty! With freedom comes responsibility. Fire crackers of any size should be allowed. They must be used with care and consideration of other peoples personal rights and property. As long as you don't infringe on the rights of others...let the fireworks begin!

Mr. Waterman, your stated goal is to elect politicians that will use government power to tax (take) money from some and use it to expand public education. Indeed you may have or know some folks that have earned their livings from this "taking". The constitution does not grant the people any rights. It states that all rights come from a creator and can not be taken away (unalienable) by government. The right to speak, to love, to earn a living, to mary, to have children, etc.We give some of our rights to the government to keep us safe, protect our life and property etc. so we can pursue our own brand of happiness as long as we do not infringe on the rights of others. You do not posses the right to go to your neighbor and take his or her money to educate your child even if you think it is important to you. Likewise, you can not confer to government a right that you do not posses (consent of the governed) to take money from your neighbor on your behalf. Government is not run by angles. Eventually it becomes corrupt. The idea of the founders was to keep government limited so corruption was minimized. Saline Schools may not be corrupt, but other schools that operate under your principles are terribly corrupted (Detroit etc.) Your ideas of bigger government do not work in a sustainable way. The United State was the first experiment in freedom, and it was a huge success. Lets not march back to Statisim or Fascism (private ownership with government control) Happy Independence Day!

Two poor choices. One is practicing to be a slick liberal politician, works for a politician and obviously has higher aspirations. He works for government and not for the people. The other is a Canadian, who has no idea of the purpose or limitations of government. Both believe that elected office grants them special rights, like the right to take as much money as the see fit to grow government to the size and scope that suits them. Guard your wallets with both of these tax and spend Statists. These are both tax farmers that view the people as their tax cows. Too bad we don't have some other choices.
