Here's more information: MOVIE IN THE PARK Tefft Park behind the Rec Center Free Everyone is invited to the June 15 Movie in the Park featuring The Muppets.  Starting at 6:30 p.m., there will be games, concessions and more. Daycroft Montessori School will have a children's activity area set up for all to enjoy with lots of fun and some give-a-ways. Free Open House Offers Taste of Rec Center Programs

The open house features fitness activities, pool programs and a preview of kids' day camp activities.

The Saline Rec Center kicks off summer by inviting residents to check out all it has to offer during an open house from noon to 6 p.m. Sunday, June 3. Admittance is free at the Rec Center during the open house as staff wants to show people everything the center offers. Carla Scruggs, director of Saline Parks and Recreation, said the Saline Rec Center is more than a typical gym. “We have something for everyone. We are family friendly. We are ADA accessible, we have great pools, awesome fitness classes, a cheerful and friendly staff, a welcoming environment and very reasonable rates,” Scruggs said. About 200 kids participated in Springfest activities at the Rec Center Saturday.

Hundreds of local kids and their families participated in Saline Recreation's Springfest activities at the Saline Rec Center Saturday. On a beautiful, sunny Saturday, about 150 children participated in the egg hunt, held in the wooded park north of the Saline Rec Center. After turning in their eggs, the kids and their parents went into the Rec Center and toured the Hippity Hop Trail. On the trail, local businesses offered treats to kids while promoting their businesses and offering free trails and other promotions to moms and dads. About 200 people dined on Benito's Pizza during "Lunch With the Bunny" in the Rec Center gym. After lunch, about 60 kids went on another egg hunt. Mom-2-Mom Sale Will Pack the Rec Center

With more than 87 vendors at Saturday's sale, the Saline Rec Center will be buzzing.

The Saline Rec Center hosts a Mom-2-Mom sale from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday. Saline Parks and Recreation director Carla Scruggs offers these tips to Rec center visitors. • Parking: For those of you taking classes, swimming lessons or working out, arrive a few minutes early to get a parking spot. You must park in legal parking spaces only. Overflow parking is available at the north softball fields by Textile Road, along the shoulder of Woodland Drive, and across the street in the Legacy Heights subdivision. Those illegally parked will be subject to ticketing and towing • Layout: The gymnasium will house 87 tables of deals. Large items will be located in the Multipurpose Room across from the gym. An Evening for Daddies and Daughters at the Saline Rec Center

More than 200 couples attended two events at the Rec Center Friday and Saturday.

The Saline Rec Center was home to special events for loca daddies and their special valentines over the weekend. In two separate events, about 200 daddy/daughter couples visited the Rec Center for a special date night filled with dancing, sweet treats and arts and crafts.

Rec Center Hosts Two Daddy Daughter Dances

Daddies and daughters will dance, enjoy sundaes cookies and punch.

Saline Rec Center is hosting two big nights of fun for princesses and their daddies. The 17th Annual Daddy Daughter dances take place from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday in the Saline Rec Center gym. Saline Parks and Recreation director Carla Scruggs said that while spaces are filling up, there are still some tickets available. Prime Tyme DJs spin the music during the dance. The Rec Center will serve ice cream sundaes, cookies and punch. Tickets are $25 per couple and $6 for each additional child. For more information call 734-429-3502

Rec Center Offers Daycare During Heritage Closure

With classes canceled at Heritage Elementary School, the Saline Rec Center is offering daycare,

With the classes canceled at Heritage Elementary School Monday so that people can attend the funeral of a teacher, the Saline Rec Center is offering child care services. Recreation Supervisor Sunshine Lambert said the center received several calls from parents asking if the center will provide child care after the unexpected closure. "The answer is yes. I am putting together a camp day at the Rec Center," Lambert said.
