Briarwood Ford Displays Modern Mindset Behind Old Facade

Briarwood Ford of Saline adapts to the fast-paced modern world with its no hassle quick lane service.

Briarwood Ford has been in Saline for 26 years, but that doesn't stop the dealership from experimenting with new ways to reach customers. Steve Whitener, vice president, purchased the dealership with his partner in 1986. It was originally located in downtown Saline and then moved to its current location at 7070 E. Michigan Ave. in early 1988. The internet altered the way dealerships do business, Whitener said. People research, inquire about pricing and make appointments all online. "We were a little afraid at first. Now people have already narrowed down what vehicle they're interested in," Whitener said. But that, he said, saves the customers and the dealership time. Which Saline Businesses Should We Write About on Patch?

The holiday shopping season is in full swing, and we want to profile a few of our readers' favorite local spots.

Patch is a place where users decide what's important to their community, so why should we tell you which local businesses to pay attention to? Instead, you tell us. As many of us spend more money in December than any other month, we want to highlight the great local businesses in Saline. We're asking you to spend the next few days telling us which businesses should be featured in Saline Patch this holiday season. Here's how: You have until 11:59 p.m. on Nov. 30 to make your voice heard. Restaurants, services, shops—they're all fair game, as long as they're local. When all is said and done, we'll take the top 4 vote-getters, dig a little deeper and feature one per week every Sunday in December, starting Dec. 9.

Saline Chamber to Host Awards Dinner

Local businesses will be honored.

The Saline Area Chamber of Commerce (SACC) will recognize exceptional businesses in the area next week. SACC will present the 2012 Business Enterprise Award on Thursday, October 11 at Stonebridge Golf Club. The event will be held at 6 p.m., and is open to anyone who would like to attend. According to a press release, “The Chamber’s Business Enterprise Award is widely recognized as the most meaningful and prestigious honor a business can receive in the greater Saline Market." "The event is to honor businesses in the community,” said SACC Director Art Trapp. “The businesses also receive a proclamation from the city, state and county.” Each year, the chamber presents awards for two businesses, one with under 20 employees and the other with …

The Saline Resale Circuit Hits Town Saturday

Local resale shops are joining forces to offer a unique experience for bargain hunters and treasure seekers.

Several Saline resale shops are joining forces to form "The Saline Resale Circuit" from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday. Each of the four stores on the circuit will be handing out cards that will be stamped at each each store. At the last shop, the customer leaves their stamped card to be entered into a drawing for one of four $25 gift certificates donated by each shop. "The idea is to promote the great resale shops in Saline and increase awareness of the wonderful places to shop resale in the area," said Michele Ingalls, owner of Reincarnations Resale. Patricipating stores are:   The participating merchants are planning to ake the Saline Resale Circuit a quarterly event, with future events in September, December and March.
