Saline Sisters Hope to Help Hurricane Sandy Victims with 'Mittens from the Mitten'
Anna and Karoline Levos say they want to collect hundreds of pairs of mittens to send to people in need on the East Coast.
As Saline residents gear up for the holiday shopping season, two local girls hope you'll throw an extra pair of mittens -- or two, or three -- in your basket to give to victims of Hurricane Sandy. Anna Levos, 9, a student at Heritage Elementary, and Karoline Levos, 7, a student at Pleasant Ridge Elementary, are collecting mittens to send to areas on the East Coast that were affected by the storm that hit in late October. They're dubbing the project "Mittens from the Mitten." "A lot of people lost their homes and it's getting colder by the minute," Anna said.
