Support the Alley Project? Vote Here!

Saline Main Street can win $2,000 to support a plan to beautify the alley behind the downtown businesses on the southwest corner of Michigan Avenue and Ann Arbor Street.

Would you like to see the alley behind Brecon Grille beautified with lights, tables, plants, decorations, an arch and more? Saline residents can help make it a reality by voting for the project at the Michigan Municipal League's "Let's Save Michigan" placemaking contest page. The contest will award $2,000 to fund the project of one grand prize winner, and will grant multiple awards, ranging from $500 to $2000, to partially or fully fund the projects of runners-up. Years ago when George Anderson was Mayor (we City council) paved and put lights in the alley. I beleive late seventies. Liking to seeing a arch, new lights, and decorations in this walkway. and the taxpayers paying for it are two different things. What is Saline Main Street? Find out May 7

Officials from the Saline Main Street board and the Michigan Main Street Center will answer questions at an information meeting May 7.

What is the Main Street program? What is the Main Street four-point approach? How can this program help our community? How do I get involved? These questions and more will be answered at the an information meeting to be held at 7 p.m. May 7, at the Saline Middle School Media Center. Representatives from the Michigan Main Street Center will be on hand to give a short presentation and answer questions. Members of the Saline Main Street Board will also be on hand and share the summary of the baseline assessment conducted by the Michigan Main Street Center and National Trust Main Street Center. Good Morning Saline, From Cindy Czubko, George A. Anderson Vision Award Winner

Today's greeting is from one of the people who will be honored at tonight's Saline Salutes banquet at Saline High School.

Today's Good Morning Saline greeting is from Cindy Czubko, who will be honored as the George A. Anderson Vision Award winner by the Saline Area Chamber of Commerce. The award honors one who works or serves in a volunteer or advisory capacity to a Saline-area governmental entity. Czubko was selected for her effort to lead the campaign to bring the Michigan Main Street program to Saline. Czubko is one of several people who will be honored during the 2012 Saline Salutes event, to be held 5:30 to 9 p.m., Friday, April 13 at Saline High School. The annual event, sponsored by the Saline Area Chamber of Commerce, also honors Youth of the Year, Maura McCann, Citizen of the Year Jill Durnen, Saline Area Chamber of Commerce Community Spirit Award …

Saline Main Street Group Celebrates Selection

About 40 people gathered Tuesday at Mac's for a press conference formally announcing Saline as a select-level Michigan Main Street community.

The Route 12 to Main Street is complete. A group of about 40 people gathered at Mac’s Tuesday night to celebrate the formal announcement of the city’s selection for a program they hope energizes and improves downtown Saline. In February, Gov. Rick Snyder announced the approval Saline’s application to be a select-level member of the Michigan Main Street program. Tuesday night, the staff from the Michigan Main Street office made it official with a press conference. The community is invited to attend as Saline is formally designated as a select-level Michigan Main Street community during a press conference at Mac's Acadian Seafood Shack at 7 p.m., Tuesday, March 20. Representatives from the Michigan Main Street Center will be coming to downtown Saline to make the official announcement. Dessert will be provided by the Saline Main Street program. On Feb. 22, Gov. Saline Selected For Michigan Main Street Program

The focus now turns to fundraising, training and finding a Main Street manager.

A community effort to revitalize downtown Saline has reached another important mile marker. Gov. Rick Snyder announced today that Saline was selected by the Michigan State Housing Development Authority (MSHDA) to take part in the Michigan Main Street program. Saline was an associate-level member in the organization, which uses an approach to encourage community and economic development through organization, promotion, design and economic restructuring. There is no cost to joining Main Street, but employing a full-time Michigan Main Street manager is a condition of membership.
