Residents Encouraged to Support Michigan Christmas Tree and Poinsettia Growers This Holiday Season

State ranks third in nation for Christmas tree production, seventh for poinsettias.

Michigan Department of Agriculture & Rural Development (MDARD) Director Jamie Clover Adams encourages residents to support Michigan's 700 Christmas tree growers and the 54 poinsettia growers.  "Michigan ranks third nationally in Christmas tree production and seventh in the U.S. in poinsettia production," said Clover Adams. "Whether it's cutting your own tree at your local Christmas tree farm, or purchasing a fresh tree or poinsettia from a local retailer, fresh Michigan Christmas trees and poinsettias add a special touch to holiday celebrations." The City of Wyandotte VFW Post 1136 is selling Christmas trees. There are many different sizes and varieties to choose from along with wreaths. Reasonably priced. Veterans and active military get a discount. Sale has started and runs weekdays from 4pm til 10pm and weekends 12pm to 6pm. Trees are located in the post parking lot.
