The HSHV will provide $50 off all teeth cleaning plus 10 percent off any pet dental items during February. “There’s a false assumption that the veterinary clinic at HSHV is there only for the shelter animals,” said Cameron Richardson…

Each year during the winter months, the Humane Society of Huron Valley (HSHV) receives calls about animals left out in the elements without adequate protection. Plunging winter temperatures can be extremely dangerous for animals. “There are a lot of dogs who live their lives outside on a chain who are in complete misery right now. Each year we have cases where dogs literally freeze to death. Unfortunately Michigan state law does not prevent dogs from living outside, but the law does require proper shelter and bedding,” Matt Schaecher, HSHV director of animal cruelty investigations said. “During the freezing winter months we have zero tolerance for dogs found living outside without appropriate protection and if found to be in danger, those …

Recently they had their eye out for the perfect new family member, and on Friday, July 27 they found Bernadette. “Bernadette could not have found a better home,” said Renee Benell, HSHV Adoptions and Customer Service Manager. “They visited …

The Humane Society of Huron Valley investigates hundreds of cases of animal cruelty in Washtenaw County each year. Despite the growing number of people who treat their pets like a beloved member of the family, animal cruelty is still far too commonplace. Recently, HSHV Investigators saw their 50th guilty verdict since the end of 2009, when the Department was taken over by Matthew Schaecher, the Director of Animal Cruelty Investigation and Emergency Rescue for HSHV. “Each victory not …
