Mayor Gretchen Driskell invites Salinians to enjoy Saline Summerfest Friday and Saturday.

Saline's two-day summer homecoming party features live music, family fun, eats and treats, a 5K run, casino games, remote control car racing, a teen block party, the Saline Street Machines car show, and Summerfest Craft & Art Show. Good Morning Saline, Do You Have Your Rubber Ducky?

This weekend's Duckin’ Down the River rubber ducky race at Curtiss Park offers some family fun and helps Saline Rotary Club raise money for community projects.

Today's Good Morning Saline greeter is Jill Durnen, of Saline Rotary Club and Hartman Insurance. Durnen invites people out to the Duckin’ Down the River rubber duck race on Aug. 11 at Curtiss Park, as part of Saline Summerfest. The race takes place at 3 p.m. Ducks are $10 or three for $20. They can be purchased at United Bank & Trust, Key Bank, Hartman Insurance or at the Saline Rotary’s Casino Night at Summerfest Aug. 10. The owners of the first three ducks over the finish line will receive cash prizes of $300, $200 and $100. There will be other prizes for the next seven ducks over the finish line and a booby prize for the last duck to cross the line. Good Morning Saline. Are You Ready for a 180-Mile Yard Sale?

The Rentschler Farm in Saline will have 20 vendors Friday and Saturday as part of the 180-mile US 12 Heritage Trail Yard Sale.

Today's Good Morning Saline greeting is from Janet Swope of the Saline Area Historical Society. The society hosts 20 vendors at the Rentschler Farm Museum Friday and Saturday as part of the 180-mile long US-12 Heritage Trail Yard Sale. The event is a major fundraiser for the organization, which manages the Rentschler Farm Museum and Depot Museum and provides educational programs about Saline's history to children and adults. "We're going to get visitors from all over," said Swope. The Saline Area Historical Society has been participating for the last three years. Good Morning Saline, Are You Ready for the Firehouse Chicken Broil?

Today's greeters from the SAFD and Mott Hospital Kids Camp invite you to next Saturday's Summerfest chicken broil.

Today's Good Morning Saline greeters are Chief Craig Hoeft, firefighter Brandon Sears and kids from a Mott Hospital summer camp who were touring Saline July 31. Chief Hoeft invites the public to the annual Saline Area Fire Department "Firehouse Chicken" broil. The event takes place from 11:30 a.m until 6 p.m. (or until the chicken is gone) Saturday, Aug. 11, at the South Ann Arbor Street parking lot during Saline Summerfest.  The dinner, which costs $8, includes a grilled half chicken, radishes, coleslaw, a dinner roll and a bag of chips. This year, diners can call ahead at 734-531-8404 and pick up the food in the Benny's Bakery driveway off Michigan Avenue.

Good Morning Saline, From Gym America Gymnasts

The girls participated in the "Olympic Experience" at Saline High School Tuesday.

Today's Good Morning Saline greeting comes from a group of Gym America gymnasts. The girls are cheering on the Team USA gymnastics team at the Summer Olympic Games. The girls took part in Tuesday's "The Olympic Experience" at Saline High School, where kids were given the chance to try gymnastics and track and field events. After collecting their "gold medals," kids and their families gathered in the Saline High School Commons to watch gymnastics on a giant screen television. The event was sponsored by Gym America, Saline Area Schools, Community Education and the Saline Rec Center.

I,as a military vet, was very disappointed that Gym America was using the Americab Flag as wraps for photos. Not only were they using the Flag as props for photos, I noticed they the flags were drug on the ground numerous times. Per U.S. regulations, this was disgracing the one emblem of America that we look up to. The flag is not suppose to touch anything beneath it. I was very sooty seeing this…   more ›

Good Morning Saline From the 10U Hornets AAA Baseball Team

The little leaguers stepped up to the plate in a blg league way to lend a helping hand to families in Saline.

Today's Good Morning Saline is from the 10U Saline Hornets AAA travel baseball team, their coaches and Don Dersnah, Director of Saline Area Social Service. The team conducted a food drive for Saline Area Social Service, a community organization that provides food and other materials for less fortunate families in Saline. Saline Social Service provides a food pantry, prescription drug assistance, back-to-school clothing program to low-income residents in the Saline Area Schools District. Good Morning Saline from Nate Lampman and Saline Schools Music Supporters

Today's greeting is from Saline High School Director of Bands, Nate Lampman, and supporters of the Saline Area Schools music programs.

Today's Good Morning greeting is from Nate Lampman, Steve Whitener, John Wiersba and Donna Omichinski. Lampman is Director of Bands at Saline High School. Whitener is co-owner of Briarwood Ford which, along with Ford Motor Company, donated $5,500 to the Saline Music Parents. The money was raised during the Drive One 4 Ur School event held this spring at Harvest Elementary School.  Omichinski and Wiersba are members of the Saline Music Parents, which raises money to provide extra programming for Saline Area Schools music students.
