Over the past two years, Bank of Ann Arbor has awarded $8,500 to the band of Saline High School fiddlers.
Hey parents, maybe all that time your children spend on Facebook can be productive. This spring, Bank of Ann Arbor launched a Facebook campaign to help local non-profit groups. Fiddlers ReStrung applied for a grant to help pay for the branding of their truck, which hauls the bands equipment all over the country on its tours. Fiddlers ReStrung competed on Facebook with about 10 other non-profits for the $5,000 grant. "And this group knows how to 'Facebook,'" said Walt Byers, Senior Vice President of Bank of Ann Arbor, when awarding the big check to the Fiddlers ReStrung at the Celtic Festival. On their recent tour of the Midwest, the Fiddlers ReStrung played a concert at Mount Rushmore. While there, the band played Woody Guthrie's foik classic, "This Land Was Made for You and Me."

The Fiddlers ReStrung just completed their tour of America's Midwest.
The Fiddlers ReStrung completed their “Hats ‘N’ Horses Tour,” which took the group throughout the upper Midwest states and included a performance at Mount Rushmore. Other performances included highlighting the Fourth of July Parade and Rodeo in Mandan, ND, jam sessions in Minneapolis, providing a workshop to Rapid City string students, and other performances at venues including town squares, theatres, and band shells. The trip also provided educational activities such as tours of Fort Abraham Lincoln, Black Hills Caverns, the Crazy Horse Memorial, the Lewis and Clark Interpretive Center along with the Badlands. The “downtime” breaks include excursions such as The Mall of America, a riverboat cruise, Wall Drug and the Corn Palace. …

The “Hats ‘N’ Horses Tour” and took the group throughout the upper Midwest states, and featured a performance at Mount Rushmore. The famous Saline band has its Spring Hometown concert at 6:30 p.m. Saturday at the Ellen Ewing Performing Arts Center.
Today's Good Morning Saline greeting is from the Fiddlers ReStrung, who host their Spring Hometown Concert on Saturday, April 21 at 6:30 p.m. in the Ellen A. This year's series of free concerts begins with the Saline Fiddlers and ends with Fiddlers ReStrung.
Opening Day is here. That mean’s summer isn’t far behind. And if it’s summer, that means music in downtown Saline every Thursday night. Downtown Director Art Trapp has finalized the lineup for the 2012 Summer Music Series. From 7 to 9 p.m. every Thursday night, the Summer Music Series offers a free concert on South Ann Arbor Street, between Michigan Avenue and Henry Street. The series opens June 14 with the Saline Fiddlers and closes Aug. 16 with Fiddlers ReStrung. Fiddlers ReStrung announced the addition of six new members selected at auditions this past February. Samantha Bay (viola), Nate Jacobson (violin), Rohan Kulkarni (cello), Teddy Lenk (guitar), Glen Luckhardt (bass), and Thomas Murphy (tech) have successfully completed the initial audition process from among the many young musicians and technical staff who attended the open auditions conducted by the group earlier this year. The audition process included having the new members perform a number of musical pieces for the selection committee to showcase their artistic talent and ability to interpret the musical style and range that is characteristic of Fiddlers ReStrung. The Saline Fire Department delivered more than 400 neatly wrapped toys to Saline Area Social Service Monday.
There weren't any reindeer, but the Saline Area Fire Department delivered more than 400 Christmas gifts to Saline Area Social Service Monday. The Saline Area Fire Department is still taking donations for its Toys for Tots collection. "You still have this week to drop them off. We'll definitely get (the toys) to wherever they need to be," said Saline Fire Chief Craig Hoeft. They can be dropped off at the firehall. The Toys for Tots program kicked off with the annual Fiddlers ReStrung Hometown Holiday Concert earlier this month.
