Neighbors, friends, and fellow Saline residents, Earlier this month, I had the great honor of being elected Saline’s next mayor. As I prepare to begin my service in January, I find myself reflecting on the past few months of the campaign, and on what I hope we can accomplish together as a community. Firstly, from the bottom of my heart, thank you so much to everyone who chose to support me; your kindness throughout the campaign - and at the polls - was truly humbling. I have enjoyed meeting so many Saline community members at community gatherings, at events I hosted, and going door-to-door throughout our city. Accessibility has always been something I’ve worked hard to emphasize during my service on City Council, and I will continue to be …

Mayor-Elect Brian Marl visited recently with two of his former teachers who he says helped to shape his interest in and passion for public service. Marl was elected last week, and will begin his term of service as Mayor of Saline in January. Both educators, Ms. Pam Wickman and Mrs. Teri Bunting, still work within Saline Area Schools. “During the past few days since the election, I have been overwhelmed with the kindness and support of people throughout our community,” Marl said. “The experience has caused me to reflect on the many people who have helped me throughout the years, and helped to make me the person I am today. I am a product of the Saline community, and that started with a strong family, and with my high quality K12 education…

Read about what the candidates you elected have in store for when they join office.
Brian Marl, elected Tuesday as Saline's new mayor, said he considers himself an open and engaging person and hopes to bring that style to his new position. He said he would continue many of the initiatives current Mayor Gretchen Driskell pursued, but that he would also bring his own ideas like those outlined in his five-point vision: Brian Iott is one of two newly elected trustees for York Township. He said he hopes to cooperate with the elected supervisor and other board members to do work for the township. He said the biggest project he's involved in from the last few months is work on two township parks — Sandra Richardson Park and Mary McCann Park. "The property was donated by Toyota 10 or 12 years ago," Iott said. He said the parks …

I’m writing this letter to convey my support of Brian Marl for mayor. I have become informed about both candidates during recent years, and can say beyond a shadow of a doubt that Brian is more accessible and engaged with people in this community. Every time I have had a question or concern, Brian has been willing to help resolve the problem, and has always been expedient, approachable and professional in doing so. I am sure that Brian will serve all of Saline residents and taxpayers very well as mayor. Please vote for Marl for Saline Mayor. I heartily support the election of Brian Marl for Mayor of Saline because he has proven by his words and his actions that he truly understands what it means to be an active part of this community -- a community about which he cares deeply. His roots are set firmly in Saline. He has attended our schools and has worked diligently and effectively as a city council member to make 48176 a better place, a vibrant place. His interest, caring and support in the development of Two Twelve Arts Center and our local artists have proven his commitment to the value of arts and culture in our community. Brian Marl listens -- from the voices of an elderly population at the Saline Senior Center to the youth from our elementary schools, Brian listens, …

I support Brian Marl's candidacy for mayor of Saline. It is easy to say, "Brian is a great neighbor and good friend." He certainly is. But he is much more than that. It has been a pleasure to work with him on our church council. A church requires many of the same factors as a business: staff, budgets, meetings, and personal attention to members. His efficiency as President of our council was shown over and over. Meetings were run in a timely fashion and Brian always made certain that all voices were heard. We accomplished so much during his leadership. He spearheaded the effort to carefully examine the church' current position as well as its future. All council members were actively involved in the process. I find Brian's ability to think…

Way to go Gretchen!!! It was refreshing to see the truth and honesty overcome the ridiculous attacks and allegations made against you. I sincerely believe that the GOP has lost it's way when misinformation and half-truths are used to excess to scare and intimidate people. You ran on FACTS and made voting for you a very common sense thing to do. We look forward to your leadership and ideas in …   more ›
