Undefeated in the 400, Roemer takes aim at the high school record at Friday's regional.
Saline High School senior Garrick Roemer has some business to take care of before he moves on to the University of Michigan where he’ll continue his studies and track career. Tuesday afternoon, surrounded by coaches and family, Roemer signed a letter of intent to run for the Wolverines. “I’m so excited about it, growing up just down the street. It’s been a dream of mine these last couple years,” said Roemer, son of Cathy and Milan Radovich. But Roemer, undefeated this year in the 400-meter race, has a few things to do yet in a Saline Hornet uniform. Friday, he and the Hornets take aim at the regional track and field championship being held at Saline High School. Roemer wants to take the 400 title. His 4-by-400-relay team is also shooting …

The study shows that Gov. Snyder is benefiting from the rosier outlook.
Michigan residents are growing more positive about the economy, and the state’s governor is benefiting from the sunnier outlook, says a new Michigan State University State of the State Survey released today. In this latest survey, Michigan residents gave the economy its highest marks since 2005, as 54 percent of those responding called their current financial situation excellent or good. Fewer than 30 percent called their circumstances “just fair,” 10.1 percent rated their conditions “not so good” and 6.6 percent considered their circumstances “poor.” “The Michigan economy has added 150,000 jobs since the job market bottomed out at the end of 2009,” said Charles Ballard, MSU economics professor and director of the State of the State Survey…
