The 9th Annual Saline Oktoberfest is happening on Friday, September 27th and Saturday, September 28th. Hosted by Saline Main Street, this free community event includes Live German music, Rock and Folk Entertainment for all ages, Family Activities, a Vintage Volkswagen Car Show, Kinderplatz Children’s Concert and Activity Area, and German and American Food.
The Oktoberfest Bier Garten will open the festivities on Friday, September 27th from 5pm to 11pm with wonderful German and local food, a Beer/Wine tent, and Frankenmuda Fratz’n, a lively German dancing and singing group, will entertain throughout the evening. There’s something for everyone at Oktoberfest and this year is no exception. Our headliner this year is Fifty Amp Fuse!
Fifty Amp Fuse is a live multimedia spectacular celebrating six decades of American and British pop/rock hits. Led by an eight-piece band, Fifty Amp Fuse transports the audience on a musical journey through the soundtrack of their lives. Bring your dancing shoes and come join them as they rock Saline!
Back by popular demand, the German game, Hammerschlagen will be held! This game is a tournament of skill (or luck). Challenge your friends by signing up to play at the Bier Garten on Friday night. There is a $5 entry fee.
Delicious food will be available both Friday (5-11pm) and Saturday(10am-7pm)! The Lindenberg Friendship Committee will again serve up traditional German food in the Bier Garten with German beer and Spotted Dog Wine served. Your choices also include Mangiamo’s Pizza & Pasta, Brecon Grille’s Smoked Beef Brisket and Sauerkraut, Saline Downtown Diner’s Smoked Sausage, Benito’s Pizza and Yummy Nut’s Bavarian Nuts! The Kiwanis Club will offer food and snacks, plus we’ll have Lions Club’s ice cream and more.
Saturday also features the crowd-pleasing Saline Firefighters Association Chili Challenge from 11am to 1pm, which pairs a team of Culinary Arts students from the South & West Washtenaw Consortium at Saline High School with a Saline Firefighter. Proceeds benefit a Culinary Arts College Scholarship. Saline High Schools’ South & West Consortium Culinary Arts Department will hold its annual bake sale on S. Ann Arbor Street.
Live entertainment continues on the Main Stage on Saturday, September 28th from 11am until 7pm including crowd favorites the Saline Fiddlers, the New Horizons German Band, and the always fun and exciting, Polka Riot!
Kinderplatz! will be held on Saturday from 10am to 3pm on N. Ann Arbor Street. Kinderplatz! engages kids with free activities including a variety of bouncers and crafts. A free live children’s concert with Tim the Music Man will be held at 11:30 am and 1:30 pm.
The Saline Farmer’s Market will also be open from 8 am to 1 pm for local produce and baked goods. You will find them in the parking lot off Henry Street behind Mac’s.
