Poll: Who Will Win the 5th Corner Chili Wars?

Saline teen center and one local non-profit will benefit from Saturday's Chili Wars.

The is having its first ever "Chili Wars" event to raise money for the center and other local charities.

More than a dozen local residents are busy testing chili recipes for the event, which takes place from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. April 21 at the Fifth Corner. Each contestant will have a donation box at their serving station. Whoever collects the most donations at the end wins the "Chili Wars."

Most of the proceeds will go toward events planned by the Fifth Corner Student Board. However, 10 percent of the proceeds will be donated to a charity of the winner of the Chili Wars.

The Fifth Corner Teen Center opened in the fall of 2010. It serves about 80-100 middle school and high school students each week with after school programs, Friday Night @ The 5th and music programs. Proceeds from the event will help the center fund "Sumo Wars," during students wearing rented "Sumo Suits" battle each other.

The center is student-driven and billed as a great and safe place to hang out and connect with friends.

The Chili Wars event is designed to raise community awareness and money.

I voted for myself. Was that wrong?
Jody Roberts April 19, 2012 at 12:34 PM
Yes, that was borderline wrong Tran. You should have instead voted for Jody Roberts because her vegetarian chili promises to be the best of the day, delicious and nutritious.

Is it wrong voting before we get to taste the chili? You have to admit the fire dept entree sounds like a hot winner.

I can't vote against a firefighter in a chili cook off
Tran Longmoore April 20, 2012 at 02:27 AM
Well, I'm not too concerned about the poll. Looks like the vegetarians stuffed the ballot.

Yes chili lovers, I do believe my over zealous fans may have voted a time or two more than they should have. All in good fun! However, they live far, far away and won't be able to be at Chili Wars tomorrow so their support is in words, not money. Let's get on with the cooking and see you all Saturday.
