Pazkowski, Fagin and Bernard to be Recognized at Saline Salutes Ceremony

The annual event, sponsored by the Saline Area Chamber of Commerce, takes place April 15 at the Ellen Ewing Performing Arts Center

Becky Pazkowski and Jack Fagin will be honored at the 2011 “Saline Salutes” ceremony, it was announced Wednesday. The event is presented by the Saline Area Chamber of Commerce with support from the . Becky Pazkowski was selected as “Citizens of the Year” and Jack Fagin will be honored for “Lifetime Achievement.”

The honorees were selected by a blue-ribbon panel of community leaders assembled by the Chamber.

“Receiving an award at Saline Salutes represents the most widely-respected recognition given to individuals living or working in the Saline area each year,” commented Larry Osterling, Executive Director of the Saline Area Chamber of Commerce. “Choosing each year’s awardees is a community-driven process with Chamber facilitation. We have the best possible representation across the entire community for our selection committee. I thought this year’s group, along with Chamber President and Saline Salutes Event Committee Chair Jill Durnen and Chamber Vice President Karen Ragland’s assistance as facilitator did a great job."

Becky Pazkowski is being recognized for her volunteer efforts in 2010 with The Fifth Corner (teen center), Saline Fiddlers, Saline Rotary Club, and the City of Saline Arts and Culture Committee. Jack Fagin is being honored for the annual “Fagin Challenge," a program Jack inaugurated over 20 years ago to provide area underprivileged children an opportunity for a merry Christmas.

In addition to the awards for these honorees, the Saline Youth Council will present their “Youth of the Year” Award to Catherine Bernard, a senior at Saline High School, for her volunteer service in the community, leadership roles at school and in local organizations, and her involvement in extracurricular activities.

 Government officials and civic leaders are special invitees of the and the Chamber and will be given a salute of thanks for their dedicated commitment to our community.

The Saline Salutes event will be held on Friday, April 15 at l in the Ellen A. Ewing Performing Arts Center. Included is a reception with entertainment, a strolling buffet, and the awards program. Cost for the event is $20 for Adults, $10 for Students, ages 6-18, for reservations made by April 8.
