Food Pantry Shelves as Empty as Mother Hubbard's Cupboard

Saline Area Social Service's food pantry is running low on stock and looking for donations.

Saline's local food bank is need of help.

"The shelves here are as bare as Mother Hubbard's Cupboard," said Don Dersnah, Director of . "If anyone has non-perishable food items to donate, they'll be put to good use."

Donations can be dropped off at 131 E. Michigan Ave., from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.n. on Monday and from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday-Thursday.

Saline Area Social Service provides a food pantry, prescription drug assistance, back-to-school clothing program, food baskets at Easter, Thanksgiving and Christmas Food Baskets and Holiday Adopt-a-Family programs for residents of the Saline Area School District.

The program is offered to single residents earning less than $1,670 a month, or families of four earning less than $3,400 a month.
