The Spinning Cube

A look at the Spinning Cube on the University of Michigan central campus in Ann Arbor.

If you’ve ever been on the Michigan campus in Ann Arbor, then you have undoubtedly seen The Spinning Cube.

The cube is located on a patio between the Michigan Union and The LS&A building.  When you drive past the Union on State Street, the cube is nearly hidden behind hedges and signs, but if you look carefully, you’ll see it.

One of the cool parts of the cube is that you can spin it with the push of a finger.  Now, when I tried it recently, it took quite a push (one that bent my finger back at bit), but it’s possible.  If you use the full force of both hands, you can get the cube spinning rather quickly.

Saline is a great place to live, with great access to the freeways to Detroit, Jackson, Brighton, and beyond (via Metro Airport), which is only about a half-hour away.
