15 Young Women to Compete for Miss Saline

The 65th annual Miss Saline Pageant contest will take place at the Saline Community Fair Tuesday.

The new Miss Saline will be named Tuesday.

Outstanding young Saline women, ages 16-21, are eligible for the annual Miss Saline Pageant contest, which is part of the Saline Community Fair. 

“Miss Saline” and her court will receive more than $4,000 in scholarships, savings bonds and gifts donated by area merchants. To quality for this community leadership experience, contestants must participate in an interview, basic modeling, evening gown competition and display poise during a question-and-answer session.

The 65th Miss Saline Pageant will be held at 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Saline Community Fair. The 15 contestants are all honor roll seniors at l.

Here is a look at the contestants.

Annie Carter will captain the varsity field hockey team this fall. In her spare time she enjoys reading and watching movies. She volunteers in numerous ways for her church. Annie is interested in a degree in Psychology.

Payton Cooper is president of the group Redefining Beautiful. She is a runner for the cross country team and a drama club student. She is also a Children’s Ministry Intern. Payton would like to become a teacher.

Elizabeth Gentile is a sideline and competitive cheerleader and also a track and field member. She enjoys cooking and hanging out with friends. She would like to study business at The University of Michigan after graduation.

Rhoda-Delasie Klomega has written and produced a documentary about teens. She is fluent in four languages and enjoys meeting new people. Rhoda-Delasie hopes to work towards degrees in Computer Science, Business Management and Psychology.

Jenny Ozor is the vice president of the National Honor Society as well as the student council. She serves as a lector at Mass and participates in the youth group CREDO. Jenny has aspirations of writing a children’s book and pursuing a degree in the health professions.

Marisa Pratt has been dancing since age three. She is dance team captain and has performed with competitive senior dance teams. She enjoys her relationships with her Young Life friends. Marisa will work towards a teaching degree at EMU.

Isabella Procassini is currently president of STRIVE. She attended Girls State and received the citizenship award. As the drama club president, Isabella lists her favorite role as “Maria” in “West Side Story” and performs with an acapella group.

Emily Reyst captains both the basketball and cross country teams. She has tutored a student in Algebra and has a deep interest in writing and literature. Emily hopes to study communications and public relations.

Alyssa Scheske's true passion is running and she excels as a track and field team member. She plays cello for the chamber orchestra and Saline Fiddlers. Alyssa has enjoyed mission trips with her church and hopes to backpack across Europe one day.

Patricia Sholtis loves to dance and has been given many opportunities to train with various ballet companies and professionals. She plays flute with the wind ensemble. Patricia hopes to pursue a double major in International Business Law and Dance.

Abbey Sovitch is a varsity athlete in three sports. She is also an executive council officer in SADD and involved with Student Council. Abbey likes mentoring children and is passionate about music. She hopes to become a nurse anesthetist at MSU.

Lindsey Talcott is president of the National Honor Society,  a member of the cross country team, sings in the choir and has performed in school productions. Lindsay hopes to attend the U of M and earn a degree in an area that will allow her to help others.

Devan Wetzel enjoys playing the violin in the symphony orchestra. As a track and cross country captain with letters in both sports she has found the meaning of leadership and caring for others. She plans to attend Grand Valley State University to study Journalism.

Natalie Wysocki, a Girls State delegate, was honored with the county citizenship award. She will also serve as a track captain her senior season. In her spare time she likes to sew and grow flowers. Natalie would like to pursue a degree in Environmental Science or Engineering.

Allison Zimmer has a passion for writing and is the sports editor for the yearbook. She dances competitively and performs at the half time games. Her summer job is at Rolling Hills Water Park. Allison is an active in Young Life and hopes to go on a mission trip.
