Saline Water Polo Team Wins Two of Four at Skyline

James Fisher and Lucas Allen each scored a dozen goals for Saline in the four-game tournament.

The Saline Hornets split for games at the Ann Arbor Skyline invitational Friday and Saturday.

Friday, the Hornets lost to Skyline,10-4, and defeated Grand Blanc, 12-7. Saturday, Saline lost to Thomas Worthington, 9-4, and beat Troy, 12-4.

Against Skyline, the Hornets fell behind 3-0 after the first quarter. After three quarters, the Hornets were down 6-4, but the Eagles scored four goals in the fourth to win it.

James Fisher scored four goals and had three steals for Saline. Lucas Allen had two assists and five steals. Ben Pummell also had two steals. Will McCullough stopped eight Eagle shots.

Against Grand Blanc, Fisher scored six goals and had four steals.. Allen tallied three times, set up seven goals and had seven steals. Tom Walls, Michael Bundas and Matt Lund each scored once. McCullough made 10 stops.

Saturday morning, the Hornets were down 5-2 to Thomas Worthington at halftime and couldn’t climb back into the game, losing 10-4. Fisher and Allen each scored twice. Allen had six steals, Fisher had three, and Louie Remenapp and Brendan Burgess each had two. McCullough made eight saves.

The Hornets wrapped up the tournament on a high note. Saline broke a 2-2 tie with five goals in the third quarter on their way to a 12-4 victory over Troy.

Allen scored seven goals and had three steals for the Hornets. Kevin Fisher scored twice. Walls, Pummell and Nathan Barnett each added a goal. Walls had eight steals to lead Saline. McCullough recorded five saves and also had two assists.
