Saline's Emily White Golfs in WWGA National Junior Championship

Saline High School's All-State Golfer shot an opening round of 90.

Cincinnati, OH — Saline High School All-State golfer Emily White shot a 90 as the Women’s Western Golf Association’s 86th National Junior Championship opened Monday.

The rising junior shot a 46 on the front nine and 44 on the back nine and needs a big day Tuesday to stay in contention. At the conclusion of Tuesday's round, players will be placed in flights. Contestants with the lowest 32 scores will contend for the championship title, while the other players will be placed in four subsequent flights of 16 based upon their qualifying total scores. Single elimination match play beginsWednesday, however, Consolation Rounds will take place Thursday for those defeated. The Championship Final Match, as well as theConsolation Match for Championship Flight, will take place Fridayafternoon. The public is invited toattend free of charge.

White was named to the MHSAA's Division 1 All-State girls golf team.
