Saline Golf Team Drives Past Chelsea, Dexter

The Hornets improved to 3-0 in the SEC.

Saline's varsity girls' golf team improve to 3-0 in the Southeastern Conference with victories over Dexter and Chelsea in a tri-match held at the Ann Arbor Country Club Wednesday.

Saline defeated Dexter, 162-210 and Chelsea 162-182.

The Hornets placed the top four players in the field, led by match medalist Karla Gross, who shot a 38. Stacy Cruze shot a 40. Emily White came in at 41. Heather Vogt shot a 32.

Coach Betsy French was pleased with the way her team golfed. She made note of Cruze's performance.

"Stacy played exceptionally well today. (She was) even par over eight holes with just one difficult hole," French said. "She showed the potential she has to shoot low in the third player position."

French said the team' performance was a positive sign.

"Today was encouraging to see that we can be competitive if we can play as a team," French said.

The Hornets improved to 3-0 in the SEC.
