Saline Girls Win New Boston Races

Saline's varsity and junior varsity cross country teams were dominant at Saturday's New Boston Invitational.

A day after Saline’s seven fastest girls won the  Spartan Invitational, the rest of the Hornet army captured first at the New Boston Invitational at Willow Metropark.

Saline finished with 23 points, 25 better than second place Huron.

Saline’s Amy Frauhammer placed first, finishing the race in 19:50, beating her season-best time by 21 seconds. She was one of 34 girls to set season-best times.

Lindsay Walter (4th, 20:08) set a career mark as she led a pack of Hornets who crossed the finish line in succession. She was followed in by Jenny Kise (5th, 20:33), Samantha Szuminski (6th, 20:47) Kristen Green (5th, 20:52) and Danielle Rathfon (6th, 20:55). Kise set career record. Green and Rathfon set season marks.

Saline finished with six of the top eight and 10 of the top 13 runners.

Also winning medals for Saline were Kalleigh Keller, Mara VanSickle, Erin Fitch and Julie Soisson.

Saline also won the junior varsity race.

Calley Jastrow finished in 21:18 and was the individual winner of the race. Her time would have won a medal in the varsity race.

Saline placed three in the top five, six in the top nine and 10 in the top 14.

Saline won 10 medals in the junior varsity race.

Winning medals were Jastrow, Alexis Ammon, Lindsey McQuade, Katie Colsimo,  Abbey Sovitch, Kate Denny, Mackenzie Keller,  Emily Reyst, Cassie Mullenix and Emily Diehl.
