Saline Girls Win at Jackson Invitational Race

Elianna Shwayder took first place and the Hornets put four girls in the top 10 as Saline won the event for the third time in four years.

The Saline girls’ cross country team continues to race toward the Michigan International Speedway.

The Hornets won Saturday’s 22-team Jackson Invitational by 28 points over second place Northville.

Elianna Shwayder set her personal record by completing the race in 18:43 to take first place in the event. Saline put three runners in the top five and four in the top 10. All five Hornet scorers won medals for placing in the top 30.

Alyssa Cummings was the second Hornet over the finish line (4th, 19:11). She finished a second faster than Amy Creutz (5th, 19:12), who finished the race in her best time of the season.. Lauren Green finished with a season-best time of 19:12, which put her in ninth place. Gloria Park was 23rd, finishing in 19:43.

Also running for Saline was Abby Rentschler (31st, 19:57) and Amy Frauhammer (37th, 20:08).

Saline has won the event three times in four years.
