Saline 5th at 20 Team Golf Tournament

Saline's girls golf team shot a 357 at the East Lansing tournament Monday.

Saline's girls' golf team shot a 357 to place fifth in the 20-team East Lansing Invitational tournament held Monday at Walnut Hill Golf Course.

Saline finished four strokes out of third place.

Karla Gross shot an 82 to lead the Hornets and place seventh overall.

"Karla played some of her best holes during the worst of the rain, shooting a three-over 39 on the second nine," said coach Betsy French.

Emily White was two strokes behind her at 84. She placed 10th overall. Rachel Hysong shot a 91 and Heather Vogt carded a 100.

French said the final team standings showed the Hornets are making progress.

"Saline finished above several teams that bested them earlier in the season, so the team was encouraged with their finish among this field of top teams," French said.

The Hornets return to SEC action Tuesday at Lake Forest, where they play against Tecumseh and Ann Arbor Pioneer.
