Lady Hornets Dominant in First SEC Jamboree

Saline placed four girls in the top 5 at Tuesday's SEC Jamboree at Willow Metropark.

The Lady Hornets cross country team opened the Southeastern Conference in dominating fashion Tuesday, putting four girls in the top five. The race was held at Willow Metropark.

Saline placed all five of its scoring runners before any other team placed two.

Saline finished with 22 points. Dexter was second with 84. Pioneer (93), Bedford (95) and Huron (157) rounded out the top five.

The race was won by Pioneer’s Katie Hoevet, who completed the 5,000-meter course in 19:35. Elianna Shwayder was the first Hornet to cross the finish line (19:52). She was followed in by Alyssa Cummings (3rd, 19:58.), Amy Creutz (4th 20:05) and Abby Rentschler (5th, 20:06). Gloria Park (8th, 20:20) was Saline’s other scoring runner.
