The Saline boys golf team won the district title on Thursday at Whispering Willows golf course in Livonia.
The Hornets and Plymouth, ranked second in the state, each scored 299 with their top four golfers. Saline won the district championship on a fifth man score.
Caleb Wittig finished fourth and made the All-District team shooting 73. Ryan Peruski and DJ Aben shot 75 and tied for sixth. Ian Martin was at 76 which tied for ninth. Jackson Lambert tied for 17th with 79 — the all important fifth score.
"It was a great win for Saline over a very talented Plymouth team who is ranked second in the state," said coach Debbie Williams-Hoak. "The guys have worked extremely hard all season and it appears as if we are peaking at the right time. We know we have to get a little bit better though to make it out of regionals and compete at the state level."
