Hornets Complete Third Straight Undefeated Swim and Dive Season

The Hornets now focus on defending their state championship.

The Saline Hornets completed their third straight undefeated season over the weekend, winning the SEC meet at Skyline.
The Hornets won just two events, using its depth to defeat Skyline by nearly 100 points.
Saline finished with 591 points. Skyline was second with 497. Ann Arbor Huron was third with 407 points.
The next time the Hornets jump in the pool, they'll be competing for third straight Division 1 championship, Nov. 18-19, at Eastern Michigan University.
Saline won the 400-yard freestyle relay and Maddy Frost won the 100-yard backstroke.
Frost won the backstroke by nearly three seconds, completing the race in 58.36 seconds. Serena Yan, third, Hannah Lau, fourth, and Sarah Noonan, sixth, also swam in fast heat of the backstroke finals.
Saline closed the meet with Nikki Flynn, Melanie Schroeder, Kate Rogers and Frost won the 400-yard freestyle relay in 3:34, more than two seconds faster than Huron.
Saline opened the day with a second place finish in 200-yard medley relay. Skyline finished the event in 1:48.94, edging the Hornets, who finished in 1:49.01. Frost, Cristina Czyrka, Emily Lau and Flynn swam for the Hornets.
Kate Rogers (3rd, 1:57.92) was the fastest Hornet in the 200 freestyle. Alex McPherson (4th), Melanie Schroeder (5th) and Erika Glatz (8th) also swam in the fast heat of the finals.
In the 200-yard individual medley, Czyrka was second to Skyline's Ashleigh Shanley. Emily Lau was third. Hannah Lau also swam in the fast heat in the finals, finishing eighth.
Frost (2nd, 24.22) was just a shade slower than Huron's Annie Tamblyn (24:11) in the 50-yard freestyle. Flynn was third in 24.94. Melyssa Aben (8th, 25.55) also swam in the fastest heat in the finals.
In diving, Jordan Toor (5th, 344.85) and Nikki Kermath (6th, 333.25) were the top Saline Divers. Caitlin Cunningham (12th, 266.10) also qualified for the regional diving tournament.
Emily Lau (3rd, 58.76) was the fastest Hornet in the 100-yard butterfly. Serena Yan (5th, 1:01.31) and Paige Sieffert (6th, 1:01.40) also swam in the fast heat of the finals.
McPherson (2nd, 5:13.88) was the fastest Saline swimmer in the 500-yard freestyle. Schroeder (3rd, 5:15.84), Erika Glatz (7th, 5:30.03) and Abbey Wrobleski (8th, 5:31.70) also swam in the fast heat in the finals.
The Hornets took third in the 200-yard freestyle relay. Emily Lau, Czyrka, Schroeder and Rogers finished the race in 1:40.09. Skyline won the vent and Huron placed second.
Czyrka (5th, 1:08.96) and Sammy Richart (7th, 1:09.69) swam in the fast heat of the 100-yard breaststroke finals.
