Hornets 3rd at Mason Golf Invitational

The Saline Hornets girls’ golf team took third in a 14-team field in the Mason Invitation at El Dorado Golf Course Monday.

Emily White paced the Hornets, shooting an 80, to finish third in individual stroke play.

“I was pleased with the way Emily White was able to score despite no hitting many greens today,” said coach Betsy French.

Karla Gross fired an 84 to take fifth in individual stroke play.

Stacy Cruze and Heather Vogt scored an 84 in a best-ball format, to place second among all pairings in the format. Louisa Antonelli and Caitlin Swiney shot a 98 to place seventh among scramble teams.

“The team has the need for a lot of improvement, but fortunately this is early in the season,” said French. “We need to keep improving steadily over the season.”
