Saline Winterfest

Head downtown for 2012 Saline Winterfest.

There will be plenty going on that day, including:

• 8 a.m.: Breakfast, Downtown at the Downtown Diner, which will offer breakfast specials
• 9 a.m.: Opening ceremonies at the intersection of South Ann Arbor and Henry Street, downtown. The ceremony will include the hay ride wagon, reenactment group, choral group and town officials. For hay ride information, please call 734.429.4907
• 9:15 a.m.: Ice carving, downtown
• 9:30 a.m.: 5K race, the Fifth Corner Teen Center. Proceeds go to the Fifth Corner teen center. This year, all pre-paid registrants will receive a long-sleeve T5C5K T-shirt! Register at https://fifthcorner.smartevents.com/t5c5k-2012; register in advance, and it's $15 per person or $40 a family of three or more; or on the day of the race, $20 per person or $40 for a family of three or more. • 9:30 a.m.: Kids crafts and games, Saline Chamber Office, downtown.
  And Roary, the Detroit Lions mascot, will be on hand during the kids activities from 10-11 a.m., both inside and outside the Chamber offices, with Lions swag to share. 734.429.4907 x2209, or  http://cityofsaline.org
• 10 a.m.-noon: Bingo at the Arch, Saline Rotary, downtown.
• 10 a.m.: Snow Bank treasure hunt, Saline Chamber office, downtown
• 11 a.m.: Sled dog demonstration
• 11:30 a.m.: Chili and hot chocolate, Henne Field. Chili, $2, hot chocolate, $1.
• Noon: Ice skating demonstration, Henne Field, ice rink.
• 1 p.m.: Snowman Building Championship of the Free World, Henne Field.

If you don't want to walk to events at Henne Field, you can ride the hay wagon there. Children's activities will be held inside the chamber office.
