Lap swimming is a great form of exercise. The lap pool is 25 yards long (72 lengths = 1 mile) and 6 lanes wide. There are at least 1-2 lap lanes available all day. The best times for lap swimming (when there are no classes) are Monday-Friday 6-8 am, 12-4 pm & 7-9 pm, Saturday 8-9 am and Sunday 12-1 pm. You will often need to share a lane.
