Dicks Scores the Lone Goal in Saline's 1-0 Win Over Dexter

The Saline field hockey team improved to 3-0 this season.

Saline’s varsity girls field hockey team improved to 3-0 by defeating Dexter 1-0 Saturday.

In a hard-fought game played under the hot sun, the Hornets and Dreadnaughts were scoreless at half-time.

“We had several shots but most were either saved by Dexter’s excellent goalie to they missed their target,” said Saline coach Don Hes.

Less than two minutes into the second half, Saline scored the only goal they needed. Alli Cope’s pass sent Samantha Dicks sprinting up the right side. She fired home the game’s only goal.

“We had many good chances to score in the second half and spent the majority of the half on Dexter’s side, but again, the Dexter goalie did an outstanding job,” Hes said.
