VIDEO: Saline High School Band Marches At Disney World

220 members strong, the SHS Marching band represented the community well during its spring break trip to Florida.

The sounds of the Blue and Gold echoed at Walt Disney World in Orland, Fla., over spring break.

On Tuesday, April 3, 2012, the 220 member Marching Band performed for thousands of people from all over the world in the "Celebrate a Dream Come True" parade at the Magic Kingdom of Walt Disney World.

"The band members represented Saline High School, the City of Saline, and the State of Michigan very well in their performances, and with the positive and respectful attitude that they displayed to every person they came into contact with on the tour," said Nate Lampman, Director of Bands for Saline Area Schools.

Though no one would dispute that members of the band had fun in Florida, it was also a learning experience.

The SHS Band was part of the Disney "Magic Music Days" celebration which  included an educational clinic for the young musicians in a Disney recording studio with professional musicians and sound engineers. The colorguard and majorette students participated in the "Disney Dancing" educational clinic where they were able to perform on a Disney sound stage with professional choreographers and dancers.
