VIDEO: Heritage Students and Staff Salute The Detroit Tigers With Homerun Derby
Students and staff kicked off the Major League Baseball Playoffs with Tiger Day.
Teachers and staff at school squared off in a Homerun Derby Pep Rally to get students fired up for the first day of MLB play-offs, last week.
With principal Les Sharon on the pitcher's mound in the gym, it was the fourth grade teachers vs. the fifth grade teachers in a whiffle ball derby. Fourth grade teachers took the prize, beating their counterparts, 62-54.
Guests at bat included Superintendent Scot Graden and Saline Police Officer David Ringe.

Students were encouraged to wear Tiger gear, paint their faces or spray their hair blue and orange to get into the spirit.
At the end of the derby, Justin Marshall, a 4th grade teacher, reminded students to attend Saline's homecoming football game, and then led them in a round of "Take Me Out To The Ball Game."
