Slawson Elected Saline School Board President

One of the first orders of business at Tuesday's Saline board of education meeting was election of officers.

With two new members at the table, the Board of Education elected officers at Tuesday's meeting.

Lisa Slawson was the only nominee for board president. She was elected by a 7-0 vote. Slawson was elected to her second four-year term on the board in 2008.

Chuck Lesch, who was president of the board in 2011, was the only nominee for vice president. He was unanimously elected. Lesch was first elected to the board in May of 2008.

David Holden and Amy Cattell were nominated as board secretary. Holden, elected to the board by voters in November of 2011, won by a 4-3 vote. Slawson, David Zimmer, Todd Carter and Holden voted for Holden. Cattell, who was secreatary in 2011, was supported by Craig Hoeft and Chuck Lesch. Cattell was elected to the board in May of 2009. Carter, elected to the board in 2010, was not at the meeting at Liberty School's media center. He did use an internet connection, digital video camera and computer software to monitor proceedings and vote on issues.

Zimmer was also elected by voters in the 2011 election. Hoeft was elected to the board in May of 2009.
