Saline Schools Lockdown Lifted

Police told Saline Area Schools that evidence suggests the suspects in Friday's bank robbery have left the area.

Assistant Superintendent Steve Laatsch said police told the schools that evidence suggests the suspects in are no longer in the immediate area.

At 11 a.m., the  at 1301 E. Michigan Ave. was held up, according to police, and two suspects escaped with an undetermined amount of cash. Their vehicle was found a short time later behind in the same shopping plaza. Scent dogs then worked extensively to track the suspects and came upon a dead-end, leading police to believe the suspects were no longer in the immediate area.

"Police informed us it was safe to lift the lockdown and we are resuming normal operations," said Laatsch.

After-school transportation will be conducted as usual, he said.

The Saline Police Department, with the aid of other law enforcement agencies, are continuing the search for the suspects.
