Student Falls From Running Track at Saline High School

The Saline Middle School student was at the high school as part of a fitness class.

A Saline Middle School student is in stable condition after falling from the running track inside the Saline High School gym.

The incident happened at about 9 a.m. Monday while students were participating in a fitness class. The 13-year old seventh grader was transported by ambulance to University of Michigan Mott’s Children’s Hospital in Ann Arbor.

“The student was on the running track above the gym when he fell,” Assistant Superintendent Steve Laatsch said. “After falling over the rail, the student stood up and was conscious and alert.”

Laatsch said the fall is the equivalent to falling from the top of a set of bleachers or about 25 feet.

Laatsch said school officials are investigating what caused the fall.
