Saline Schools Community Rocks the House for Literacy Campaign

The Schools of Rock event raised more than $7,000 for the Foundation for Saline Area Schools capital campaign.

A sell-out crowd of 700 people packed the auditorium Friday night for the third annual Foundation for Saline Area Schools of Rock event.

The event raised more than $7,000 for the foundation's "Kids Who Read Succeed" capital campaign. The foundation hopes to raise $70,000 to help the district purchase new classroom libraries that will help educators work with students at their own pace and give children a more diverse and attractive selection of books to choose from.

Saline Middle School's team of teachers, staff and administrators captured took first place in the event, with a rip-roaring rendition of Beyonce's Single Ladies. The Saline Middle School PTO will receive $500 as a result.
