13 Saline High School Students Honored as Merit Scholars
Seven of them have advanced to the semifinal round of the contest that awards $32 million in scholarships.
A group of 13 Saline High School students were recognized as Merit Scholar finalists at a reception during the Saline Area Schools Board of Education meeting on Tuesday.
Of the 13, seven have qualified as National Merit Scholarship Semifinalists.
Students in the program have participated in a rigorous program beginning in the 9th grade and must complete a variety of requirements to advance farther.

Merit Scholar finalists will compete with 16,000 students across the nation for a chance at winning more than $32 million in scholarships.
Students who have made it to the semifinal round are Louisa Antonelli, Allison Collins, James Corcoran, Kelly Hall, Jessica Lipa, Ryan Whitfield and Patrick Zetterholm.
