Results from the fall 2012 Michigan Education Assessment Program will be released Monday morning for students in the Saline Area Schools district and all public schools across the state.
The results were scheduled to be released at 10 a.m.
The Michigan Education Assessment Program exam assesses students in grades three through nine.
- Reading and math are tested in grades three through eight.
- Writing is tested in grades four and seven.
- Science is tested in grades five and eight.
- Social studies is tested in grades six and nine.
The annual test is designed to show students' proficiency in career- and college-ready materials. The MEAP is administered by the Department of Education, which is releasing the data Monday.
The MEAP as a standard of measuring student achievement is on its way out; beginning in the 2014-15 school year, students will be given an online exam to test their knowledge of core subjects. (Read: Michigan Department of Education Plans for New Online-Based Assessments.)
Last year, Saline Area Schools bested state and Washtenaw County averages in the 2011 MEAP results in every subject and every grade. (Read:.)
