Foundation for Saline Area Schools Leads the Way

The foundation's $65,000 fundraising campaign will give more Saline students access to an innovative science, technology, engineering and math program.

The Foundation for Saline Area Schools held its Spring Reception at Stonebridge Golf Club in Pittsfield Township Thursday evening. The group showcased many of the Saline school projects that were funded in part by $1,000 mini-grants from the foundation. But the big news of the day was that the foundation reached its lofty fundraising goal of $65,000. The money will be used to expand the Project Lead the Way science, technology, engineering and math curriculum into eighth grade. The money will be used to buy computers and materials. Currently, Project Lead the Way is being to teach students in seventh grade.

There are plans to expand the program into the high school at some point.
