Back To School: Woodland Meadows Elementary School

Here's what's new at Woodland Meadows Elementary School as children return to class.

New Faces: Michelle Szczechowicz is the new school principal this year at Woodland Meadows. Ms. Josza is the new school Psychologist. Staff members new to the building are Maria Bebber who will teach third grade, Mrs. Miller and Mrs. Williamson will be teaming in second grade, Mrs. DeGrand will teach kindergarten, Melissa Styn is the resource room teacher and Ms. Beltman (Meyer) is returning to Woodland Meadows.

New Places: Mrs. Junga is looping with her first graders up to second, Mrs. Youngblom will teach second grade, Mrs. Marshall will teach first grade and Mrs. Miranda Moore will teach third grade.

New Spaces: Woodland Meadows now has a new sign to welcome parents and identify the entrance. There is a splash of color welcoming visitors to the office on select accent walls. There is a display of the Saline Area Schools district strategic framework in the entryway. Mrs. Kargel will use a new SMART board in her classroom and there are several new ELMO projector for teachers to check out. Also, the audio system for the cafeteria/stage area has been enhanced..

New Programs: The Readers Workshop reading model is new this year. Also new this year are the Fountas and Pinnell reading assessment kits.

Rules For School: Woodland Meadows will be contiuning with the "Bee-haviors" initiative. The entire Woodland Community follows three guiding rules: Bee Responsible, Bee Safe, Bee Respectful.

Message from the Principal: "As cooler nights and subtle signs of autumn arrive, we welcome the beginning of the 2011-2012 school year. I am eager and excited to see all of our students and families during the beginning of the year activities. The teachers, support staff, clerical and custodial have all been working hard in prepartation for the start of the year. A new year, with new opportunities awaits us.
