York Township Welcomes New Assessor

Christopher Coucke comes with experience and pedigree to accomplish his job.

York Township welcomed a new member to its ranks on Tuesday, July 12.  The Board of Trustees unanimously decided to extend an offer of employment to Christopher Coucke as an assessor, an offer that he accepted.

“[Coucke] was the candidate that offered us the best package.  He was highly recommended,” said York Township Supervisor Joseph Zurawski.

Coucke has an excellent pedigree for the job.  He has six years of experience, along with a degree in accounting from Central Michigan University.  Coucke has worked in other municipalities similar to York Township, which is mainly residential and agricultural, as well as work in the consulting field.  He is a level 3 assessor and will take the CMI exam in the fall, which is described as the CPA of property tax.

“I’m hoping to learn how to better deal with the current economic situation and see if we can help everyone out in the area,” said Coucke.

Coucke hopes to learn about York Township quickly and learn its ins and outs.  He looks forward to learning the area better and getting a better general knowledge of York Township.
