State Rep. Mark Ouimet, R-Scio Twp., currently has more than $111,000 on hand for the 2012 election cycle, according to information on the Michigan Secretary of State website.
"I want to thank the people who contributed to my campaign and for their continued confidence in how we’re reinventing Michigan,” Ouimet said in a release issued by the campaign Thursday. “We've made some significant steps forward to foster an environment where the economy can rebound. We've put more people back to work, streamlined government and created a positive fund balance, but we still have much more work to do."
Ouimet has raised more than $125,000 since November 2010, and has more than $111,000 cash on hand, according to the release. Ouimet is the second most successful Michigan House lawmaker in funds raised for this election cycle, according to the campaign and 71 percent of the Ouimet donors were individuals.
To date, no Democratic Party candidates have filed to challenge Ouimet. Thursday, Saline Mayor Gretchen Driskell confirmed she is forming an exploratory committee to study the feasibility of running to be State Representative for Michigan's 52nd District.
The campaign finance reports are available at the Secretary of State's website at http://www.mi.gov/sos/0,4670,7-127-1633_8723_8751---,00.html. The most recent filing deadline was on Tuesday.
