Lindimore Honored for 27 Years of Serving the City

Saline's Deputy Clerk plans to retire.

These days, the Saline City Clerk’s department has a reputation as one of the most professional, thorough and efficient among clerk’s departments in the county. One example of this can be found on election night, when the city is always among the first to report its results.

Election day wasn’t always smooth sailing for Clerk Dianne Hill, a 40-year city employee and Deputy Clerk Jackie Lindimore, who is retiring after 27 years with the city.

“Our first election was the pits. We started at 6 a.m. on Election Day and we walked into the county with the results at 6 a.m. the next day. There was no food to be had in the middle of the night. Everybody wanted us to come to their celebration parties and we couldn’t because we were waiting for our count board,” remembered Hill, during a small ceremony honoring Lindimore at Monday’s city council meeting. “But we were at work at 8:30 a.m. after an hour of sleep.”

Hill said the clerk’s department has done nothing but improve since then, and that Lindimore has been instrumental in that improvement.

“She has been my elections go to person and done e tremendous job. I will miss her immensely,” said Hill, during an emotional ceremony. “Jackie and I have been together 27 years. I am going to miss her tremendously. She has been a great asset to my department. We work well together.”

Mayor Gretchen Driskell said the city wouldn’t run without the work of Lindimore.

I am even at a loss to describe all of the things you do, because you are so thorough and so efficient,” said Driskell. “She volunteers for everything, and takes a lot of initiative on your own. Thank you for all your service, I know you’ll be missed very much.”

Lindimore thanked the current at past city councils for allowing her to serve the city for nearly 30 years before thanking her family.

“There were a lot of long nights because I had planning commission (meetings). But I never missed an event, that I know of, that I really had to be at for you girls,” she said. “Still, you understood and your support means a lot.”

Aimee Rutledge has will be the new Deputy Clerk.
