Law Considering a Run for Mayor

Glenn Law served on Saline City Council from 2003 to 2011 before resigning to take a teaching position in Menominee.

Former Saline City Council member Glenn Law is considering a run for mayor.

Law, who in September in 2011 to take a teaching job in Menominee, was first elected to city council in 2003.

Law said his assignment in Menominee finishes in June and he’s looking forward to returning home to his family and Saline.

“I will weigh all options and I will make a final decision very soon,” said Law.

Law said he talk with his wife, Lorrie, and daughter, Sarah, before making his final decision.

Another factor weighing in the decision is finding work closer to home.

“It is a big factor. I prefer, of course, to work closer to home and I will certainly be looking to see what is out there,” Law said. “I am confident that I will find something in education/working with kids.”

Law said he has missed serving on Saline City Council since leaving September.

“I really enjoyed my time on council. Yes, I do miss it. I miss working with a great staff, fellow council members and of course being able to interact with residents about concerns or issues they wanted to discuss. I miss the process of making a decision; the deliberation; hearing all points of view and trying to reach the best outcome for the city as a whole,” Law said.

In 2011, two Saline City Council members resigned to take work elsewhere. Prior to Law’s leaving, Pat Ivey resigned for a post in Colorado. Council appointed Jim Peters to replace Ivey. Council chose not to replace Law, who resigned six weeks prior to the November election, until after the vote. Jim Roth, the top vote getter in the election, was appointed following the November vote.

To date, council member Brian Marl is the only person to announce his candidacy for mayor. Marl kicks off his campaign with an event at 6:30 p.m., May 10, at the Stone Arch Arts & Events. Council member David Rhoads has also weighed a run for mayor.
