Council to Consider Purchase of Monroe Street Property

Saline City Council meets at 7:30 p.m., Monday

meets at 7:30 p.m. Monday after a 90-minute police and public works budget session.

It's a fairly long agenda for council.

In unfinished business, council will entertain a motion to authorize the purchase the Karpenski property at 207 Monroe St.

In new business, council will consider a motion to approve the 2011 Saline Community Fair Parade, set for Sept. 3, 2011. Council will also consider a motion to approve Brecon Grille to allow outdoor cafe tables. Also in new business, council will consider a motion to authorize the purchase of a 25-by-6 foot steel truss bridge for $12,900 from Art Thureson, Inc. The bridge would replace the existing Bowley Bridge in Mill Pond Park.

In other unfinished business, council will consider a motion to award the Oakwood Cemetery Mausoleum Niche Proposal to Eichkhof Columbaria, Inc., for $47,976. The price includes the furnishing, delivery and installation of 139 companion niches in the mausoleum at Oakwood Cemetery.

Council will also consider a motion to approve the Saline Celtic Festival 5K run be held July 9.

The consent agenda includes:

• approval of the 2011 Summer Music Series. There will be eight concerts. All except the June 10 performance by the Saline Fiddlers will be held on Thursday evenings on South Ann Arbor Street.

• approval of Mayor Gretchen Driskell's proclamation of May 21 as National Kids to Parks Day and May as Building Safety Month.

• Approval of $1,089,041.26 in bills.

 

Council will hear presentations from Saline Liberty Club and the Two Twelve Arts Center.
