In February, after a seven-week investigation into alleged fraudulent activities, Sandig was advised by police that several warrants were forthcoming. By March 1, officers lost contact with Sandig. Saline Police were able to locate him in Los Angeles and he was extradited to Michigan and lodged at the Washtenaw County Jail, according to police.

Police began investigating Sandig when another man discovered a bank account and credit cards were opened in his name. The alleged victim suspected Sandig because he had access to personal information because both men were trying to obtain medical marijuana cards through the same person. Sandig kept a copy of the man’s application form and used the information to open bank accounts and three credit cards that were quickly maxed out before they were trashed, according to police reports.
