Police Report: Woman Faces Charges After Leaving Accident Scene

The following reports are from Saline Police Department records from Feb. 13-21. Arrests do not indicate conviction.

A 43-year-old Saline woman faces several charges after failing to report an accident Feb. 20, according to Saline Police Department records.

While on patrol, Saline police were advised to be on the look out for a Dodge pickup that had just been involved in a private property crash  at River Oaks apartments before fleeing without leaving information.

As police were talking to witnesses, a witness said they had just seen the suspect vehicle at the Valley Circle Apartments. Police spotted the vehicle and located the owner, who was angry with his wife for damaging his truck in a crash, according to records. Police interviewed the woman in her apartment. The woman told police she was on medication and had taken twice the prescribed amount of Ativan before driving. She told police  that she didn’t consume alcohol and that she hit something, but that she “didn’t know what or where,” according to the report.

The driver faces charges of operating a vehicle while impaired, driving with a suspended license and failure to report an accident.

Two Saline residents were arrested during a traffic stop Feb. 21.

Just after 2 a.m., Saline Police pulled over a car with its driver’s side tires over the yellow line on Woodland Drive, according to a police report.

The driver, a 19-year-old Saline man, refused the officer’s request to take preliminary breathalyzer test and was arrested.  He later agreed to take the test, which showed a blood alcohol content results of .08 and .09. The legal limit is .08. The passenger, a 17-year-old Saline girl, was arrested on charges of being a minor in possession of alcohol, according to police.

While inventorying the vehicle for impound, police found two bags of what they suspect are dried hallucinogenic mushrooms., according to police. The 17-year-old passenger told police the mushrooms belonged to her, according to the report.

Drunk driving charges are pending against the driver. The passenger faces charges for possession of a hallucinogen.

Items Stolen From Vehicles on Maplewood

A Maplewood Drive resident said that someone entered his parked Ford Focus and stole about $65 worth of goods sometime between the evening of Feb. 17 and 5 p.m. Feb. 18, according to police.

The owner noticed that someone had gone through the console of the vehicle, which was parked in the driveway. He told police that it appears someone went through two other vehicles parked in the driveway and in front of the home.
