There were a series of thefts from homes on Rosemont Avenue, during the early morning hours June 19. But all the stolen items were quickly recovered, according to police.
After hearing noises and noticing an open gate at about 1 a.m., an elderly woman on the 400 block of Rosemont Avenue spotted an unknown man walking out of her garage door. The woman reported nothing was taken, according to the report. Police searched the area but could not find anyone matching the description.
At 7 a.m., police were called back to the area for a larceny report on the 500 block of Rosemont Avenue.. The resident found contents from his shed laying in the backyard lawn and then noticed items missing. An electric jigsaw, a miter saw, a cordless electric drill, an air compressor and other items were among an estimated $1,100 of goods taken. Another resident on Rosemont Avenue complained that someone stole items from their garage.
All of the items were recovered later that morning in the flowerbed of a nearby home. Police believe the suspect was stockpiling the items but never returned because of police presence in the area.
Police believe a break-in on the 400 block of Spring Street may be related. In that case, a suspect entered a garage and stole two radio-control cars and a miter saw. These items were not recovered.

Man Leaves Grocery Store with Cart Full of Groceries
A 29-year-old Coldwater man was arrested on charges of theft after pushing a cart filled with $293 worth of groceries out of Country Market without paying on June 12, according to police. An assistant manager approached the man while he loaded groceries into his car, according to the report. The man claimed he purchased the groceries before admitting that he did not, according to the report. The man told police he needed the money to eat and that he was living in his car, according to the report.
Driver Sideswiped on Michigan Avenue
A 59-year-old Clinton woman driving westbound on Michigan Avenue was sideswiped by a passing driver near Harris Street, June 19, according to a police report.
The woman told police she was slowing or stopping when a burgundy vehicle driving behind her pulled around her and cut in front of her, scratching the passenger side front panel quarter, according to the report. The driver pulled into Speedway at the corner, but the woman kept driving because she said she had somewhere to be, according to the report.
Man Arrested for Allegedly Assaulting Mother
A 40-year-old Saline man was arrested when police were dispatched to handle an assault taking place at the mobile home community on the 400 block of North Maple Road.
A 65-year-old woman complained she was assaulted by her son.
According to the report, the suspect and victim were arguing when he lost his temper and his mother on the top of his head. Police noticed goose eggs on the top of her head. The victim refused medical treatment.
The man was arrested and charged with domestic violence and transported to the Saline Police Department for booking and then transported to the Washtenaw County Jail, according to the report. Safe House was notified of the incident.
Police Arrest Man Found Sleeping Behind the Wheel
A 20-year-old Saline man was arrested on charges of operating a vehicle while under the influence June 18. Police were dispatched to Bemis Creek and Old Creek Drive for an individual passed out behind the wheel of a vehicle, according to the report.
When police arrived, the man appeared to be sleeping while wearing his seatbelt and the key in the ignition, according to the report. He took preliminary breathalyzer tests, which showed a blood alcohol content of .19, according to the report. The legal limit is .08. Rankin’s license was confiscated and destroyed. The case was forwarded to the prosecutor for charges.
