Police Report: Man Arrested Under 'Super Drunk' Law

Breath Test Indicates Driver Was "Super Drunk"

Saline police are seeking a warrant against a 23-year-old Vanderbilt man arrested under the “super drunk” driving laws.

At 8 p.m. Sunday, police received a report that a black 1992 Oldsmobile Bravada was swerving all over the road. Police spotted and then stopped the vehicle. A preliminary Breathalyzer test showed a blood-alcohol content of 0.25, according to police reports. The new super drunk law takes effect when the blood-alcohol content is 0.17 or higher.

The man was arrested and his vehicle impounded.

Woman Ticketed for Driving Without a Valid License

Police ticketed a 22-year-old Westland woman for driving with a suspended license Saturday. According to police reports, police stopped the woman in her vehicle for failing to signal at a turn and driving without a safety belt. She was arrested, ticketed and released. Her license was destroyed and the vehicle was turned over to a driver with a valid license.

Police Pick Up Forgery Suspect in Grosse Pointe Shores 

Police drove to Grosse Pointe Shores, where police were holding an 18-year-old Detroit woman wanted on two felony warrants for forgery. She was picked up Friday and transferred to the Washtenaw County Jail.

Woman Who Failed to Appear Arrested in Pittsfield 

Police drove to Pittsfield Township to pick up a 22-year-old Ann Arbor woman wanted on an outstanding bench warrant for failure to appear on a driving with a suspended license charge. She was picked up July 13 and transferred to the Washtenaw County Jail. Her bond was set at $3,000.

Boxcar Vandalized 

A railroad maintenance worker reported that someone spray painted a boxcar sitting near 7605 N. Maple Rd. Sometime July 12 or 13, somebody used gold paint to spray paint the initials “MMR.”

Police Take Hit-and-Run Complaint 

An employee at the Speedway gas station on Michigan Avenue reported a hit and run that damaged her vehicle. The woman told police that she had parked her car along the west curb of the property to give access to a waste disposal truck coming to empty the trash bin. According to the police report, an irate customer came in and complained that the parked car was impeding traffic. The employee later discovered her bumper was damaged and, according to police reports, watched video and determined the complaining customer may have damaged her vehicle.

By the Numbers 

During the week of July 12-19, police made 27 stops for speeding and made 23 citizen/motorist assist calls.
